Korean Panax Ginseng Reduces Orthodontic Tooth Movement in Rats

Our findings revealed that 150 and 300 mg/kg of G115 ginseng extract significantly reduced orthodontic tooth movement(OTM) from 0.87 mm (min 0.69; max 0.96) to 0.53 (min 0.42, peak 0.62; p = 0.002) and 0.36 (min 0.27, max 0.43; p 0.0001), respectively, when compared to the OTM control. Furthermore, when compared to the respective controls, rats given 150 and 300 mg/kg of G115 had considerably reduced body weights (p = 0.002 and p 0.0001, respectively). These data demonstrate that Panax ginseng extracts can reduce orthodontic tooth movement in rats, which is linked to a reduction in body weight.
